White Desert
- The White Desert is located in Egypt, 45 kilometers (30 miles) north of the Farafra Oasis in the New Valley Governorate, approximately 500 kilometers from Cairo. It was declared a nature reserve in 2002 [1]. It is called the White Desert because of the white color that covers most of its area. Its total area is 3,010 square kilometers [2]. It also contains a huge chalk rock formation. The desert contains many formations created by occasional sandstorms in the area. The Farafra Oasis and the White Desert are a popular destination for students from some schools in Egypt and are a popular camping site
- Before the White Desert was declared a nature reserve in 2002, safari tourists would visit the area and collect some of the mountain's loose stones as souvenirs. Egyptian safari enthusiasts imitated them, and these rocks are the main reason for Crystal Mountain's natural beauty and splendor, due to the sparkle of these pieces during the daylight hours, in a scene that now captivates the eye.
- The Black Desert is a desert located in Egypt, in the New Valley Governorate. It is slightly north of the White Desert, but closer to the Bahariya Oasis than to the Farafra Oasis, approximately 50 km south of the city of Bawiti. The mountains have eroded, covering the desert with a layer of black powder and rocks, giving the place its name. At the edge of the Black Desert are black volcanic hills that erupted ages ago, releasing a volcanic material called jasper, the material from which the black rocks are composed. Climb English Mountain, the highest peak in the Black Desert, and you will enjoy a magical view of this strange landscape. The Black Desert can be seen while crossing the road from Bahariya Oasis to Farafra Oasis.
