Siwa Oasis
- The Bahariya Oasis is one of the oases of the Western Desert in Egypt, located 365 kilometers southwest of Giza. It lies on a depression of more than 2,000 square meters. It contains approximately 400 hot and cold mineral and sulfur springs. Its center is the city of Bawiti.
- The Bahariya Oasis was part of the Oxyrhynchus (Bahnasa) region.
- Roman soldiers, composed of Egyptians and Romans, often moved through the valley between Oxyrhynchus and the Bahariya Oasis, occupying the northern part of the oasis east of Bawiti. During the Christian period, when Egypt came under Roman rule, the Bahariya Oasis was known as the Bahnasa Oasis. This was an unsafe period for the oases. The Roman general Hadrian was the one who supervised the military forces in the oases around 213 AD.
